The Boxing Brief: Recap of Jake Paul VS Mike Perry

What time is Jake Paul vs Mike Perry? TV Channel, where to watch it online and more of tonight's fight | Marca

Saturday was filled with excitement and hype as Jake Paul took on one of his most savage opponents to date. He faced BKFC Champion Mike Perry, a dogfight expert and someone who considers themselves more of a boxer despite his UFC background. He wore a chain of him knocking Jake Paul out, and he was ready for this fight since he was the backup for Tyson. Mike Perry asked for Jake Paul, but how does that saying go? Be careful what you ask for? That old saying stood true for Mike Perry as he would lose by 6th round TKO to the internet personality Jake Paul. Paul knocked Perry down in the 2nd round as well before Perry was saved by the bell. The first thing that stood out to me was how much larger Jake Paul looked when compared to Mike Perry. I’m sure the size difference wasn’t that great, but Paul looked much more menacing. Also the speed in which Paul landed his punches were miles ahead of Perry’s strikes. Paul almost looked like he knew what Perry was going to do. That’s not saying the fight was scripting, that’s a compliment to Paul’s speed and ring awareness. Mike Perry stood no chance in there with the superior boxer. Mike Perry is a dude you wouldn’t want to have a street fight with because he’s a killer, but in a more technical arena like MMA and boxing, he’s been very beatable. Jake Paul is a good boxer, and people need to respect him. He mentioned that him and Mike Tyson are a done deal for a fight on Netflix in November. But Mike Perry wasn’t the only former UFC fighter on this card. Uriah Hall kicked the show off against Julio Chavez Jr. Hall was the more aggressive fighter landing more shots in the later rounds. He did a great job in his first showing, so much so that the announce team thought he was a lock to win by decision. When they raised the hands of Julio Chavez, many were surprised as Chavez clearly didn’t do enough to win by decision. The night also had its fair share of brutal knockouts. In the most surprising upset of the night, a bright lightweight prospect looked to get a win on the big stage. H20 Sylve, an Unbeaten young fighter faced off with Lucas Bahdi. Bahdi was game from the start, making it clear to the unbeaten prospect this was not going to be an easy fight. In the 8th round, Bahdi caught Sylve with a scary hook that put the light prospect out cold laying face first on the ground. Some people have been calling that the knockout of the year so far. The lone female fight was between Stevie Morgan and Amanda Serrano. Serrano looked really sharp in this fight. She immediately took to Morgan, and overwhelmed Morgan with strikes. Serrano would finish the fight in the 2nd round. Last but not least, two fighters familiar with each other fought a very close fight. Corey Marksman defeated Tony Aguilar by unanimous decision. Corey Marksman now improves to 10-0-1. This was one of the more exciting pay per view cards for a Jake Paul fight, as the card was stacked. I’m interested to see what happens for their first appearance on Netflix, as I’m sure they will get some more starpower for that card. Jake Paul also asked for Alex Peireira. I doubt Dana White will let his current champion fight Jake Paul, but I think that the former kickboxing champion would be unlike any fighter Paul has faced. Alex is lethal in any arena he steps into. It would be a great addition to the legacy Paul has built. A legacy that has grown substantially as he’s beaten the tough guy of combat sports in Mike Perry.
