2024 College Baseball World Series Recap: Texas A&M VS Tennessee Game 3

The Tennessee Volunteers completed the comeback over Texas A&M to capture their first NCAA Men’s College World Series Title in program history. Tennessee beat Texas A&M 6-5 in game 3 of the Men’s College World Series. After two games in a row allowing Texas A&M to jump out to an early lead, Tennessee struck first in the bottom of the first inning when star second baseman Christian Moore homered down the left field line. However, Texas A&M would not go away so easily, and fought back like they did all season long. In the top of the 3rd, center fielder Travis Chestnut would reach on a bunt single to first. He’d get to second on a throwing error, and eventually steal third base with the top of the order due up. A&M lead off hitter Gavin Grahovac slapped a single to left field, scoring Chestnut and tying the game. Tennessee would waste no time in recapturing that lead. Tennessee first baseman Blake Burke would lead off the bottom of the 3rd inning with a double. After advancing to third on a ground out by Billy Amick, Dylan Dreiling would fly out to right center, scoring Burke and giving Tennessee the 2-1 lead. Tennessee wasn’t finished there, as their center fielder Hunter Ensley, right fielder Kavares Tears, and shortstop Dean Curley would hit 3 consecutive singles scoring a third run for Tennessee. It would remain 3-1 Tennessee until the bottom of the 7th. Tennessee left fielder and clean up hitter Dylan Dreiling would hit a two run homer to right field breaking the game open 5-1. Dreiling broke a NCAA world series record with his 11th RBI of the series. After Ensley would reach on a single, Kavares Tears would nearly leave the ballpark hitting a double and scoring Ensley for a 6-1 Tennessee lead. Texas A&M would chip away bit by bit at the commanding Tennessee lead scoring 2 runs in the 8th inning, and nearly completing a comeback scoring 2 more runs in the 9th. However Aaron Combs would rebound from the two runs, and strike out Ted Burton to clinch the championship for Tennessee with celebrities like Peyton Manning and Morgan Walling in attendance. An excellent game to cap off an historic run by the Tennessee Volunteers. Tennessee becomes the sixth straight SEC team to win the College World Series (Vanderbilt, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, LSU, Tennessee).
