Blue Man Group (The Briar Street Theatre, Chicago Illinois)

The Briar Street is a small but comfortable venue, and a great place to be amazed by the spectacular colors and sensory overload that is The Blue Man Group. I'm very adamant that this venue with the pipes (it is hard to explain, you will need to see this artwork for yourself) and the art work displayed by artist inspired by the show is the best place for this concert.

Interactions with the Crowds
The Blue Man Group are famous for the torment they put on the crowd. One of the funnier things they do is use social media to find out about the crowd members and give them shoutouts before they come out. Also, don't come late to the show as you will be called out and put on camera. The dinning skit they do where they shoot some gross cake batter out of their chest's, is elevated when they grab an audience member who where a chest protector that shoots out the batter as well. They do this while they fling jello out at the crowd of the table. They also use an audience member to do a body painting and let him take it home. Also, they throw candy and marshmallow's at the crowd while they shove these edible delights in there mouth in a crazy impressive display of tossing these into each others mouths from afar.

The Music
Infamous for their drumming with pipes and drums that display multiple bright colors, the Blue Man Group also display a live band. The music is the show displays is fun, kid friendly, and entertaining. The experience is loud and in your face, and something you really have to experience live.

The Band
Believe it or not the sound of the show are elevated with a live band that consist of a drummer and also a guitarist and DJ. They play some prerecorded electronic dance music to keep up with the times (this is where they drop the giant balls from the roof and shoot toilet paper at the crowd.

Final Say
If you live in Chicago, this is a must see. But if your a fan of live music this has to be a bucket list show for you to see. Although not the greatest show, I described it as something as I would not see twice, you have to see it to say you experienced it. I like how they have incorporated new technology to the show to stay relevant for the times.

Dining
This is probably the most unflattering part of the show. The seating is rather uncomfortable to set the mood and setting to make you actually feel your in the medieval ages. The chicken dinner and the bowl of soup with the no spoon or fork it not pleasant either. The food is dry, the soup is rather plain, and it is not fun eating with the smell of horse shit in the room.

The actual show
So the whole premise of the show is a tournament of nights wearing their own house or town colors, fighting for the hand of the princess and be her personal night. One of the nights is evil, and is working for Merlin. They joust and sword fight. What makes this so interactive is each crown member is assigned a certain color, and given crowns to match their night. I had the Green Knight, and he came back in the end to save the queen and defeat the Red Knight. It really does get rather exciting.
